Canada Government Extended Their Flight Ban
Viewing the decline of Corona cases, Canada government has extended the restriction of flights from India and Pakistan.
The existing flight restriction from India has been extended by the Canadian government until June 21. Omar Alghabra, Canada’s Transport Minister, made the news on Friday (May 21, 2021).
Since Ottawa originally announced the bans on April 22, as the number of cases in India increased, Alghabra said Canada had witnessed “a considerable reduction” in coronavirus infections among arriving airline passengers. The change has no impact on freight flights.
Officials from the government said they were not in a rush to open the border, citing the need to preserve public health.
The Canadian government also stated that since last week, the country has observed a 25% decline in daily new cases as immunizations have increased. According to Howard Njoo, the deputy chief public health officer, daily new cases now average over 5,000.
